{"id":1762,"date":"2013-01-12T17:50:21","date_gmt":"2013-01-12T15:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/?p=1762"},"modified":"2013-01-12T17:59:07","modified_gmt":"2013-01-12T15:59:07","slug":"lego-classic-space-sets-6861-6901","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/?p=1762","title":{"rendered":"LEGO Classic Space Sets 6861 &#038; 6901"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are two LEGO Sets &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/lego.wikia.com\/wiki\/6861_X-1_Patrol_Craft\" target=\"_blank\">LEGO 6861<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/lego.wikia.com\/wiki\/6901_Mobile_Lab\" target=\"_blank\">LEGO 6901<\/a> &#8211; which either have not been sold in Europe or are really difficult to get their hands on.<\/p>\n<p>For the 6901 set, I have a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lego_space\" target=\"_blank\">comment<\/a> that it was only sold in the US &#8211; the other one comes doe not come with that comment but both share a very specific characteristic: they both use bricks in transparent green &#8211; which no other Classic Space set does (to my knowledge).<\/p>\n<h2>LEGO 6861 &#8211; X-1 Patrol Craft<\/h2>\n<p>With LEGO 6861, I am confident that it can easily be re-build &#8211; it is made from standard bricks and I got plenty of spares. Like always, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peeron.com\/inv\/sets\/6861-1\" target=\"_blank\">inventory providing the brick list<\/a> is available from Peeron, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peeron.com\/scans\/6861-1\/\" target=\"_blank\">building instructions<\/a> come from Peeron as well.<\/p>\n<p>Scanning my boxes of spare parts, I can come up with many but not all bricks:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List.png\" rel=\"lightbox[1762]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1764\" alt=\"Brick List\" src=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List.png\" width=\"907\" height=\"597\" srcset=\"https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List.png 907w, https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List-300x197.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 907px) 100vw, 907px\" \/><\/a>The ones in red are missing, all but #3940 are currently available on eBay with the prices given. The total cost of assembly would be &#8220;just around 10 Euros&#8221;. A full set but also with replacement bricks is available at eBay at this very moment&#8230; but given the potential bid race, I think I would be better of buying the individual bricks (especially since the set comes without instructions) and the transparent green 1&#215;2 Bricks come in a pack of 10 (leaving me an option to build LEGO 6901 at some point in time). All in all, these are the parts I can use:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0001.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1762]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1765\" alt=\"LEGO-6861-0001\" src=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0001.jpg\" width=\"1219\" height=\"815\" srcset=\"https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0001.jpg 1219w, https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0001-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0001-1024x684.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1219px) 100vw, 1219px\" \/><\/a>As you may notice, I am using 2&#215;6 plates to replace the missing items 3032 (Plate 4&#215;6) and 3036 (Plate 6&#215;8). Which leaves me with just five black parts (which are the visual misfits and a transparent yellow 1&#215;2 brick instead of a transparent green one).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0004.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1762]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1768\" alt=\"LEGO-6861-0004\" src=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0004.jpg\" width=\"1219\" height=\"815\" srcset=\"https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0004.jpg 1219w, https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0004-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/LEGO-6861-0004-1024x684.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1219px) 100vw, 1219px\" \/><\/a>Assembly is quick and easy, I even have the slope brick with the space logo in my spares &#8211; and a decent looking red astronaut.<\/p>\n<h2>LEGO 6901 &#8211; Mobile Lab<\/h2>\n<p>It does not look as good for LEGO 6901 &#8211; this one is using some parts that are hard to get &#8211; including the transparent green slope brick (3939) and the 1&#215;4 bricks (3066). Combining the items from by stock with what I can raise at my preferred brick seller at the moment, I would have to invest about 15\u20ac but I would be missing a significant number if parts &#8211; some of them not or not easily replaceable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List-6901.png\" rel=\"lightbox[1762]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1769\" alt=\"Brick List 6901\" src=\"http:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List-6901.png\" width=\"867\" height=\"888\" srcset=\"https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List-6901.png 867w, https:\/\/andreaszapf.de\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Brick-List-6901-292x300.png 292w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 867px) 100vw, 867px\" \/><\/a>So there is currently no point to try and build this set from scratch &#8211; maybe one day I will, replacing the transparent green items with transparent yellow ones (close to LEGO 894 then) but it won&#8217;t be the original set then&#8230; or a re-creation thereof.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are two LEGO Sets &#8211; LEGO 6861 and LEGO 6901 &#8211; which either have not been sold in Europe or are really difficult to get their hands on.
